General Dedicated Serves FAQs

Answers to common questions about our dedicated servers services, IPs, virtualization, control panels, backups and so on.

What is a Dedicated Server?

A Dedicated Server — also referred to as a physical server or bare metal (dedicated) server — is a full physical server where all hardware resources (CPU, memory, storage, network, etc.) are allocated exclusively to a single user. Unlike shared hosting or VPS environments, no resources are shared with other customers.
You have full control over the entire server, including both hardware and software levels — allowing you to install your preferred operating system, configure custom software stacks, firewall settings, and optimize performance based on your specific workload requirements.

What are the advantages of a Dedicated Server compared to a VPS?

A Dedicated Server offers multiple advantages over a VPS, including fully dedicated resources, higher stability, complete hardware control, lower network latency, and the flexibility to install any software you need. Dedicated Servers are ideal for long-running, high-load workloads.
In most cases, the performance of a dedicated server is 2–3 times higher than a VPS with similar configurations.

Is there any difference between your Bare Metal Servers and Dedicated Servers?

No. Bare Metal, Dedicated Server, Standalone Server, and Physical Server all refer to the same type of server product.

Do dedicated servers come with a public IP address?

Yes. Each server includes a dedicated public IP address, and you may purchase additional IP addresses based on your requirements.

Which virtualization platform do you recommend for hosting multiple Linux and a few Windows virtual servers on a dedicated server? Can I use my existing Windows licenses?

Proxmox VE is an excellent choice. It is open-source, supports full virtualization via KVM and lightweight containers via LXC, and allows you to run both Linux and Windows guest VMs without additional platform licensing fees. Proxmox also provides a web-based management interface, live migration, and built-in backup tools.

If you prefer a Microsoft-based stack, you may install Hyper-V on a Windows Server host. The host requires a valid Windows Server license, and each Windows guest VM must have its own license. In most cases, you may use your existing valid Windows licenses for the guest VMs. Regardless of the platform, the host operating system must be licensed separately.

Do your dedicated servers support virtualization?

Yes. Our dedicated servers support a wide range of virtualization technologies, including hypervisor-based solutions (such as VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, and Proxmox) as well as container platforms (such as Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift).

Which RAID configurations are supported on your dedicated servers, and are they software-based or hardware-based?

Our standard dedicated server plans support RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 10, implemented using software RAID. For more details, please refer to: https://www.cloudclusters.io/server/dedicated
If you require additional RAID options (e.g., RAID 5/6), please contact our Sales team for a customized configuration.

Can dedicated servers communicate with each other?

Yes. If you require multiple dedicated servers to communicate over a private internal network, we can place them in the same rack and configure a dedicated Private Network (LAN) for secure server-to-server communication.
The fees are:
Private network connection: $10 per server per month
One-time setup fee: $39
If you wish to establish a private network, please contact our Sales team prior to ordering so we can arrange the deployment.

How many extra IPs do you provide for each dedicated server?

If the additional IPs are not used for activities that are prone to abuse, such as sending emails, we can provide up to 2 additional IPs. If they are intended for running virtual machines (VMs), we can provide up to 8 IPs.

I want to install the OS on an NVMe disk. Is that possible?

We understand that you would like to install the OS on an NVMe disk. While we would like to accommodate this request, our current hardware setup does not support OS installation on NVMe drives. However, if your primary goal is to leverage the faster performance of NVMe, we suggest considering installing and running your applications directly on the NVMe disk. This way, you can still take advantage of the speed benefits it provides.

I'm currently looking to rent a dedicated server under $100/month. Is it possible to include a /24 IP subnet?

Currently, due to plan limitations, we can assign a maximum of 8 IP addresses to a single dedicated server.
Unfortunately, due to the global shortage of IPv4 resources, we are unable to allocate a /24 subnet to an individual server. We appreciate your understanding on this matter.
We apologize for the inconvenience.

Can I rent your IP or SQL Server without ordering a hosting server?

No, we exclusively offer hosting server services. However, we do provide the option to rent IPs or SQL Servers as add-on services to enhance your hosting experience.

When should I choose a dedicated server?

Dedicated servers are optimal when your requirements include one or more of the following:
Database hosting, big data computation, or resource-intensive analytics;
High-concurrency or high-traffic websites and e-commerce platforms;
Enterprise applications, backend services, virtualized environments, or multi-system hosting;
High-performance computing, AI/ML, graphics rendering, or large-scale concurrent computing;
Scenarios requiring stable, dedicated resources, low latency, and high I/O performance.

Hardware Specifications

Find answers to questions about the hardware specifications of our dedicated servers, including CPU performance, RAM capacity, storage types, RAID options, and network details.

How many redundant power supplies do you provide on each dedicated server?

Currently, we provide one redundant power supply per server, and our data center is gradually enhancing its power infrastructure.

Do you provide the second network adapter for dedicated servers?

We only provide one public network adapter for our dedicated servers. If you have multiple servers from our side, we could provide the private network for servers in the same rack.

Do you provide DDR4 memory for dedicated servers?

Yes, we do provide DDR4 memory, but it's only available on selected servers equipped with X10 or newer motherboards. Please let us know which plan you're interested in, and we'll then check if that specific configuration supports DDR4.

What is the difference between a Bare Metal Server and a Dedicated Server with RAID?

A dedicated server with RAID, offers better data security, better CPU, and Free Windows OS. The major difference between them is that Bare Metal does not have RAID redundancy, while RAID dedicated server does. In other words, there is a high risk of data loss when the C drivers of Bare Metal go wrong. Therefore, Bare Metal is mainly for the use of product/project development or business which is not data sensitive. For those who want to take advantage of the Bare Metal price and use it for their data-sensitive business, please back up the data as often as possible to your local disk during the business.

Which server plan supports RAID?

Some of our physical servers come with RAID configurations as standard. Please refer to our plan details https://www.cloudclusters.io/server/dedicated. If you need customized RAID services, please contact us via a ticket.

Server Customization
